The UAAHC Abroad Program (UAP) was established with the central idea that travel is essential for the healthy development of one's identity. It is this sense of identity that will lead to the development of strong character. UAP hopes to provide abroad experiences that will enrich the development of young men of color, and train our young men to become successful and active citizens.
Through international travel, our scholars will have an experiential, interdisciplinary learning experience. UAP scholars will "learn it by living it" as they experience first hand the very best historic, cultural and natural sights in the world. In conjunction with the travel component of the program, the UAP will give scholars the opportunity to use real life experiences as a learning tool. Before they travel, scholars will use the framework of history, culture, geography and environment to prepare them to become leaders who are able to think critically, and able to apply a global perspective to local community issues and problems. All scholar travelers are required to share their experiences with the school community and community at-large upon return.
